Lani Trock, b.1984/Hawai’i, is an interdisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles, with a BA in Philosophy from UCSC. She’s shown work with OCHI, Praz-Delavallade, Nicodim, and LA Municipal Art Gallery, and has been published in Autre, Murder Magazine & Plant Magick. Fall of 2021, she was a Kernel Fellow, and opened a solo exhibition, and so we blossom gently into the infinite garden, initiating a year-long residency at The Philosophical Research Society. Bridging the physical, – through participatory music & movement, inside sculptural, immersive installations, – with the virtual – through archival research, digital gardens, & experimental audiovisuals, this work is made in service of our planetary evolution into biosphere consciousness. This way of seeing is grounded in the awareness that everything is alive, has spirit, and that together, we all coexist as an interconnected, symbiotic organism. Our wellbeing is interdependent. In this interwoven worldview, all participants are honored as sacred, and equally essential to the whole. As such, we must reorient our systems towards collective wellbeing. Here lives the vision, make art that touches spirit, transforms consciousness, and manifests peace on earth.

With a practice centered in harmonious world building, she frequently utilizes fragile, evolving and ephemeral materials, in the creation of sacred space, to imagine the story of new earth. Envision this: regenerative stewardship, decentralized power, and a novel social architecture built with open-source software, rooted in an ethos of care. Building blocks for imaginal institutions, pluralistically governed, ground these radical potentials into form. New local currencies, with cooperative, circular economics embedded in their code sustainably fund public goods, in turn, manifesting a more beautiful world, improving the conditions of life on planet for us all. This work envisions alternative future paradigms that embody a cultural shift away from scarcity, commodification and competition, in favor of abundance, collaboration and mutual benefit.
